New Restaurant Going into Park Slope Restaurant Space

Back in December of last year, the 36-year-old Park Slope Restaurant, on Fifth between 11th and 12th, shuttered and merged with the owner's other restaurant, Green Kitchen, located a few doors down. The space remained vacant until earlier this month, when workers began to gut the space in preparation for the next tenant.

While walking by this morning, I asked a worker what would be moving into the space. "A restaurant," he said, coyly. He wouldn't provide any more details, but a visit to Green Kitchen confirmed that it would indeed be a restaurant, "either Italian or French," according to the employee I spoke with.

A Peek Inside Bare Burger, Opening Any Day Now on Seventh

The exterior is ready to go, and judging by the above photo, snapped through a gap in the papered windows, so is the interior. The hotly anticipated Bare Burger, coming to the corner of Seventh Avenue and First Street, looks like it should be opening literally any day now (as soon as that contractor finishes up the final touches).

It appears as if there will be about 25 seats, and that the restaurant's layout will be similar to that of Bark, where you order and pay at the counter then pick up your food when it's ready.

Citibank Branch Coming to Hollywood Video Space

Looks like the South Slope is about to get its first Citibank. A branch will be opening soon in the cavernous space last occupied by Hollywood Video, on the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and Eighth Street. Have an account and looking to dodge those ATM fees? Now you won't need to walk all the way over to Seventh and President.

With such a large space to fill, I had a feeling that the video store would be replaced by a chain. If this is your bank, though, I'm sure it's a welcome addition.

Bare Burger is Ready to Go

The facade's been painted, the storefront's been completely rebuilt, awnings have been installed, and it's looking like--at least from the exterior--Bare Burger, on Seventh Avenue and First Street, should be opening up any day now.

Voted the #2 burger in the city by Zagat, Bare Burger will feature organic, free-range beef, elk, ostrich, bison, and lamb burgers, and its other locations have quite the following.

Eye Shoppe on 7 Gets Signage in Video Forum Space

I first heard the rumor that the space formerly home to the Video Forum, on Seventh between Garfield and Carroll, would be turning into an eyeglass store back in April, but as the months went on and progress in the space remained stagnant, doubt began to creep in.

About a month ago, though, demolition work began (revealing an ancient ghost sign belonging to an occupant from decades ago, Oasis Restaurant), and yesterday afternoon signage was finally installed.

The shop will be called Eye Shoppe on 7, and will apparently also offer eye exams and contacts.
