Friday Foodporn: Nana

Nana Asian Fusion, on Fifth Avenue between St. Johns and Lincoln Place, is the type of restaurant you go to when you have no idea what you feel like eating, but you know you want something tasty, quick, and authentically Asian, in a sleek setting. The expansive menu covers all the bases: Japanese, Thai, Szechuan, Malaysian, Indonesian, you name it. After considering the specialty Spider Roll (made with soft shell crab) as well as the curry laksa noodle soup and nonya nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice with chili paste and a fried egg), I settled on the shrimp pad thai, which tasted exactly as I expected it to. I know, I know. Next time I go I'll be more adventurous.

The bar up front has a good happy hour, with four dollar Asian beers and three dollar bar snacks, including edamame, roti canai, scallion pancakes, chicken and shrimp wontons, and spicy tuna rolls. They're cash only, but there's an ATM on-premises.

Nana, 155 5th Avenue Brooklyn NY 11215. 718-230-3749.
