Food Chow Headed to Botánica Space on Fifth Ave and Seventh Street

There's lots of work underway in the space formerly occupied by Botánica San Miguel Y Anaisa on Fifth Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets. A glimpse inside revealed what looks like a long open kitchen, and workers busy installing an awning would only reveal that the coming restaurant would be Asian. (Update: It's the Food Chow Chinese Restaurant from across the street, relocating. Thanks, Commenter!)

I was always intrigued by the Botánica, with its striking window display of various religious icons and statues. The inside was also stocked with candles, herbs and elixirs used in alternative medicine, rosary beads, amulets, and literature on religions like Candomblé and Santería. It was an interesting cultural marker in a part of the neighborhood with a large, though dwindling, Hispanic population.

It's just the "Food Chow" Chinese restaurant from across the street moving in here.

No big woop.
