La Taqueria Shuts Down Bar/ Restaurant Half
Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 5:12PM La Taqueria, the mainstay Tex-Mex spot on Seventh between Berkeley and Lincoln, has decided to shut down their bar and full-service "La Taq" half and switch to a take-out format, although limited seating will remain available.
The restaurant, hailed for its massive portions and convivial atmosphere, was one of the first California-style burrito joints to open in the neighborhood, over ten years ago. It attempted some re-branding recently with a bar renovation and a name change of that side to La Taq, but after shutting down for some time earlier this summer after failing a DOH inspection it just couldn't regain its footing.
With the upcoming halving of Long Tan, are we past the age of the two-storefront restaurant?
