German Beer Hall Coming to Fourth Avenue and St. Marks Place

Big news: Brownstoner is reporting that the manager of popular Fort Greene German beer hall Der Schwartze Kolner will be branching out to the North Slope, opening a 4,000 square foot watering hole in the space that was last home to a lumber shop, at 84 St. Marks Place, near the corner of Fourth Avenue.

Word has it that the hall will hold about 200 people, and will serve thirty German draft beers as well as some simply grilled, Cologne-style fare.

Der Schwartze Kolner is one of the best places in the city to drink a liter (or three) of beer and eat some bratwurst with friends, and the owners, Dale Hall (who hails from England but spent 17 years living in Cologne), and Randi Lockemann, did a spectacular job of transforming the corner space from a hardware store into a bright, spacious beer hall. Here's hoping the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

This is great news! I love the one in Ft. Greene. Will be nice to have one that is close by!

At 4000 square feet, this will be double the size of the Ft. Greene location and it says it will have 30 beers on tap vs only 18 at Der Schwarze kolner. This is going to be a BIG place!

hi, as German born New Yorker and Park Sloper i would like to correct your spelling: Der Schwarze Koelner...but otherwise ti is great news. Just wish they had great Sigmund Pretzels or Blaue Gans food...

Dale Hall is a criminal and should be in jail. He beat the hell out of his girlfriend in 2006 and is on probation because of it. She is a good friend of mine and I feel that everyone should know the truth about this prick.
