« Fifth Avenue Ozzie's Re-Opens with New Look, New Name: Kos Kaffe | Main | Open For Business: Priority Group Fitness, 409 Seventh Avenue »

The Park Slope Week in Review: 11/28/11 - 12/2/11

On Monday, word got around that Sweetwolf's, the much-anticipated new American comfort food restaurant, had opened on Sixth Avenue over the weekend. It's been packed every night since. Oko, the frozen yogurt shop on Fifth near Degraw, closed for business. Kiku Sushi also put some temporary signage up on its new home, the space formerly occupied by Babouche.

On Tuesday we took a peek into the Dunkin Donuts, under construction on Seventh, and also took a look at a new Brooklyn-themed mural commissioned by Square Stores.

Wednesday brought a scoop that a McDonald's would be moving into a vacant space on Seventh near Union, but some investigation revealed that the tenant will in fact be McDonald's polar opposite, Charles Schwab. We also got confirmation that Great Lakes, the bar on Fifth Avenue and First Street, had indeed closed for good, a couple months after the landlord put it up for rent.

On Thursday we took a peek inside the under-construction outpost of Beauty Bar, coming to half of the Ozzie's space on Fifth. We also checked in on Greenwood Park, the huge beer garden coming to Seventh Avenue and 19th Street.

On Friday we tried some of the food at Sweetwolf's (go for the burger), and also got the sad news that Timboo's, the ancient dive bar on Fifth and 11th, would be closing at the end of the month. Priority Group Fitness also opened down on Seventh near 13th Street.

So The Dram Shop was closed yesterday. There was a letter hanging on the door as well. I didn't stop to read it, but curious as to what's going on.

Any info, Dan?

Okay, FIPS is reporting that the refrigerator broke when the DOH inspector stopped in. Just a bump in the road...
