Coming Soon: A Peruvian Bistro for Willie's Dawgs Space

When hot dog stand Willie's Dawgs closed about a month and a half ago, I was afraid that the space would remain vacant for a lot longer than it has. Signs went up on the windows today announcing that Surfish Peruvian Bistro would be opening soon in the space, at 351 Fifth Avenue, between 4th and 5th Streets.

Peruvian cuisine is one that is suprisingly well-represented in Park Slope, with Coco Roco and El Pollo both located just up Fifth.

...huh. I'm glad something is moving in, but there are all those other Peruvian places...huh. Maybe the price point will be different?

There are also 10 pizza shops, 15 coffee shops and 4 bahn mi places in the Slope. What exactly did you hope to see in this space that you don't already have?

I happened to visit this restaurant a couple of days ago. What a cozy and inviting place to eat. My friends and I were warmly welcomed by a very charismatic lady (the chef's mother). That was a plus. The food was superb, an invitation to come back. I highly recommend this place.
Kudos to the chef.
