Ozzie's Coffee on Seventh to Close by End of September

Rumors have been floating around for some time now, but today Brownstoner confirmed that Ozzie's Coffee, on Seventh and Lincoln, will be shutting down soon.
I dropped by and spoke with the barista, who provided a few more details. It looks like a rent hike is primarily responsible for the closure, but "there are a few more things in play," he said. They'll be shuttered by the end of next month.
While this closure won't affect the outpost down on Fifth Avenue, the owner, Melissa, will be opening up a coffee shop of her own, and has been looking at empty storefronts in the neighborhood but hasn't settled on a location yet.
While Ozzie's was never known for great coffee, it was in a great location and I've been a big fan of that fact that they kept so many of the original furnishings from when the shop was a pharmacy, back at the turn of the century (the "trusses and belts" advertised in the window were used to support broken bones).Hopefully the next tenant keeps these vintage touches.
Maybe Martin feels like exanding?

Please talk to (Cafe) Martin and tell him this space is going to be available!!!
Wow, they have been there soooo long! They were one of the first places like that to open in the area ages ago, so sad that all these places are being priced out
Their coffee was pretty terrible.
A place with great coffee would do well there.
Ozzie’s used to be great in the early 1990s. Nowadays (and I mean since like 2000) it’s really dreck. Forget about the taste because I cannot think of a messier place that serves food in the Slope. Always spills and flies.
I do love the coffee at Cafe Martin, never go to Ozzie's, am never on 7th avenue that much
The owners of Ozzies opened up a cafe on Atlantic Avenue called Loretta's back in 2010. Barely lasted a year.

I've been to Ozzie's only 7 or 8 times over the years, but every time the person preparing my coffee had a sort of sneering attitude. I found it highly unwelcoming.
