Friday Foodporn: Bonnie's Grill's Buffalo Wings

This could get messy. Bonnie's Grill, on Fifth Avenue between First and Garfield, is one of those restaurants that every neighborhood needs. Part lunch counter, part college-style hangout, they're renowned for top-notch spice-rubbed, grilled black Angus sirloin burgers, and, of course, the wings. Never frozen, fried till golden (I'd recommend ordering them extra crispy), and doused in a sauce that's as spicy as you like. And there's a good reason that these wings are so good: owners Anthony Bonfilo and Mike Nabor hail from Buffalo. They've also brought a regional specialty with them that's nearly impossible to find in the city: beef on weck, which pairs hot roast beef drenched in jus with a salt- and carraway-dusted roll.
No matter what you order here, one thing's for certain: you're going to need extra napkins.

YUM! Love Bonnies for basically everything. The wings, to me, are the best in the neighborhood, especailly with extra sauce. It's all about the wing sauce.
These guy are the real deal. FYI, if you ask them for the 'super hot' wings after gaining some liquid courage across the street at High Dive be careful. They will deliver. They have some super secret hot habanero based sauce just for the drunk and ambitious. That said, love the burger too. Great local spot.
I think Mike's been the solo proprietor now for about three years. But yes, the wings are awesome.
