More Hidden Signage On Seventh

It's always fun to discover that hiding under a storefront's signage are the remnants of the sign that preceded it. There's the old "Coffee" sign hiding under the (now-closed) Calexico's sign down on Fifth, and up on Seventh we've got a sign for the long-gone Video Action hiding under Photofaction's big yellow Kodak sign. Shadows of the sign for the vanished Oasis Restaurant were revealed when Video Forum's signage was taken down in preparation for Eye Shoppe on 7th's move in. And yesterday I discovered that one's been lurking in plain sight all this time as well: the old lettering for Max's Optical, hiding behind a realty office's sign, at 138 Seventh, between Carroll and Garfield. I wonder who Max was, and how long his shop was in business for.

Max Babakhani. There's a listing for him in the 1978 phone directory, though none in the 1973 or 1986 directories.
Cool!
