Opening Sunday: Prime Six, Now Re-Named "Woodland"
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 12:59PM
Looks like we've got a couple noteworthy restaurant openings to look forward to this weekend. The first is Talde, down on Seventh Ave and Eleventh, and the second is Woodland, on the other end of the neighborhood, at Sixth and Flatbush. Name not sound familiar? That's because it was previously known as Prime Six!
According to Brownstoner, they've gone in a completely opposite direction from the "nightclub" theme that they were originally shooting for, largely because of pressure from the neighborhood. Instead, it'll now focus on "farm to table food, super steaks, fresh fish, venison, bison burgers, etc.”
Stay tuned next week for a full opening report.

It was never going to be a nightclub. The neighbors freaked out unnecessarily because many of them are nuts and have nothing better to do than to complain. Taking a look at the comments section on this website would seem to indicate a similar story where people will complain about ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. It's sad, but some people are just very unhappy.
If anyone has been watching what they've been doing with the interiors from day 1, it's been quite obvious it was going to be a restaurant with bar and not a nightclub.
Where is it written that nightclubs can't serve bison burgers?
It was going to be a nightclub.
How do I know this? Interesting story. I was in vacation in Miami last year and started up a conversation with the bartender at the hotel bar who, after about five minutes, I realized had just moved down from Brooklyn and was partner in a nearby restaurant. He knew more about the Prime Six project than anyone I've talked to, or read about before or since. He insisted over and over that all the CB concessions were a bunch of crap and that the sole purpose of that place was to make money off of bottle service from arena traffic.
Clearly something changed along the way if they even went with a name change after all that nonsense, the FB page, the garish "coming soon" sign, etc.
Right Deanstreet. Because wanting to maintain the character of your block as a quiet residential street instead of a haven for loud drunks and low-lives is clearly a sign of insanity.
I agree with Jimbo. All that Jennifer McMillian stuff be damned. This place was shooting to be something else but has now reversed course.
Where I'm concerned about a place like this (and, frankly, Carlton Park) is that it's really easy to say you're going to be seasonal and all that jazz. It's harder to actually do it well. Who is going to be in the kitchen of these places? Why should I care? I'm supposed to be happy that Carlton Park is going to serve organic sustainable food when they're serving overpriced burritos right down the block?
I'll give them all a shot, but show me you're doing more than chasing a buzzword and maybe I'll be back.
To tie two threads up as well, THIS is why Dale Talde can charge whatever he wants in our neighborhood. He's cooked at good places before this.
What was the big deal about this place being a nightclub? it's on Flatbush, good place for a nightclub IMO. We have plenty of restaurants
The construction of the Empire State Building took about as long as this place took to open.
So what happened? Not only didn't it open, but there really hasn't been any activity indicating they will open any time soon. Windows are dirty, Chairs and tables are strewn about the floor. Lots of paper covering things. Looks exactly the same as its looked for the past couple months in other words
A nice restaurant opens up with a hint of flash and high class, people start to be upset. Sorry, come to Woodland, the food will be goof.
