Closed for Business: Juice Masters, 77 Fifth Avenue

Juice Masters, the underwhelming year-old health food restaurant and juice bar on the corner of Fifth and Prospect Place, has shuttered. They did their best to grab hold of the health-conscious market (and certainly chose a good location for it), but a combination of uninterested service and low quality product doomed them.

According to Yelp reviewers, the shop, which specialized in fresh squeezed juices and gluten free sandwiches and wraps, always appeared to be a little dirty (warranting a "B" rating), counter folks always seemed a bit surly, and the food usually didn't turn out quite as ordered. One reviewer was assured that all the vegetables were organic, while upon further inspection they had stickers on them implying that they weren't. Another got a stump from a head of lettuce in his sandwich. Another waited 20 minutes for two sandwiches while employees "looked on in miserable boredom."

While there's certainly a market for gluten free, organic food and juice, Juice Masters just couldn't put it together enough to attract repeat customers. Thankfully, it looks like there's a "healthy food" restaurant in the works right across the street.

I loved the idea of a fresh juice bar and I hope another one will open soon :-)

That place was so amateur looking. If a juice place is going to succeed, they need to do it right. They also need to sell more than just juice.

Funny. My wife just had a terrible smoothie there and complained as to how dirty it was just last weekend. Good riddance.

Its too sad...these people worked night and day, but like thousands of others business didn't pick up. I did wonder how a juice place could survive in the winter...we'll miss you Jasmine and family. Signed Irish Kevin.
