Dale Talde Now a Thistle Hill Partner, New Menu Unveiled

First, there was Thistle Hill Tavern. A very solid gastropub, Owners David Massoni and John Bush opened it a few years ago on the corner of 15th and 7th and it quickly became a local favorite. Then, during a fateful evening of drinking with chef Dale Talde, who stopped in one night, they all decided to open a restaurant together. That became Talde, which then begat Pork Slope.

So what to do next after launching two of the most successful restaurants in the neighborhood's history? Let Dale put his magic touch on that other restaurant you own! According to the New York Times, Talde has signed on to be chef/partner at Thistle Hill, making the trifecta complete.

Chef Kerwin Chu was hand-picked by Talde to be Thistle Hill's new head chef, replacing Rebecca Weitzman, and an entirely new menu is being rolled out. It forgoes the European influence the previous one had, embracing a fully American approach. You can find it below.

Thistle has been my favorite neighborhood joint since the weekend it opened. I still love it but I do sometimes miss Rebecca's menu. It changed often and felt much more seasonly inspired. I will miss the eggplant and burratta salad.

That said, still love Thistle..

Looks very much like the old menu.

Ive always liked 12th St Bar and Grill over Thistle Hill. The food was better prepared, better priced and the portions were generous. They just redid their dining room and still have that great little bar around the corner.

As much as I think this trio has done a lot to bring attention to PS restaurants and push the whole neighborhood to up their game, I hope less celebrity and media darling places like 12th st get their fair recognition.

Pork Slope is "[one of] the most successful restaurants in the neighborhood's history"? I'd say it's better described as a bar that's been open for one month.

There is nothing stellar about Pork Slope, save for their cheap prices.
