Crespella Expanding to South Slope

Crespella, the popular Italian crepe and espresso shop from two of the owners of Zito's Sandwich Shoppe, will be opening up a second location in the space last occupied by Gialeti's Cafe (which closed during the summer), on Eighth and Prospect Avenues.

According to FIPS, the new shop will be opening on November First. This new location is much larger than the original, which is on Seventh Avenue between Eighth and Ninth Streets. This new space will allow for an expanded menu, one which adds panini and salads to their already stellar selection of sweet and savory crepes, Stumptown coffee, Robicelli's cupcakes, and Blue Sky Bakery muffins.

While there's no shortage of coffee shops in most of Park Slope, this corner of it can certainly use a solid cafe. With Crespella coming in, it looks like they've got it.

Great news for that corner of the hood

seems like Zitos expanded too fast, I never see anyone in the 5th Ave location. Might just be that they're perfect as a counter service place, not so much as a sit down one, though.

The zito's on 5th does a big take out and delivery business and has been slammed ever since the arena opened. I order from take our from them all the time and they are always busy when I'm there. And they do have seats and a garden.

This is great news! I've been a fan of Crespella since they opened and it was go-to coffee spot when my girlfriend lived nearby.

Since moving to this block of 8th, I've been hoping for a good coffee place to open closer than the existing options (DUB, Couleur). Crespella is exactly what I wanted (as long as the quality and customer service from the other location carries over). I hope they do punch cards at this one!

btw, Crespella and Zito's are the same owners, correct?

@hans Marcello co-owns both, but he has different partners at each.

Zito's on 5th is doing fine. Big delivery and take-out business, as well as the big outdoor space. In the summer months, Press 195 didn't always fill those front tables. Watch when it gets cold.

You're right, though. It does seem empty at first glance.

This is great news. Crespella makes the best espresso drinks in the slope and its always great to see the Zito's guys doing well.

Crespella deserves the biggest of accolades for their gluten-free options. Great to see that things are going well for them.

Being across the street from one of the most popular restaurants to ever open in the hood will certainly help their business. It was obvious from day one that Giovanni's would be the end for Gialetti's. I think a quality place like Crespella will bring even more activity to this corner and I am excited to see what happens next.
