Massage Parlor Opens at 493 Seventh Avenue
Monday, October 22, 2012 at 4:45PM
Priority Fitness moved out of their original home, on Seventh between 16th and Prospect, over the summer, and recently a quasi-shady, generic "Back Care/ Foot Rub" parlor opened up in its place.
Not much else to add, except for the fact that this is the third such opening in the neighborhood in the past couple years.

Are you a local business?

The twin massage places on 10th just off 7th ave and 7th ave and 16th are actually pretty decent , I wonder if this is by the same folks. Its an easy cash only business. You do have to wonder about the situaltions of the quasi English speaking women that work at those places
Why "quasi-shady"? My wife had some issues following an ankle fracture a year ago and the masseur on Fourth St. helped her greatly, at a fraction of the cost of most massage therapists.
Your quasi shady comment implies that the business is bad for the neighborhood, and the people who own this business are not entitled to the same rights as any other.
Why not call out the building owner?
I think he's just referring to the appearance of the place, with its covered windows and all. It comes off as more of a 'rub and tug' joint than a reputable massage parlor. That's probably a bit unfair as it sounds like some have had good experiences at such places.
I don't know...
The whole "Massage Palor - Cash ONLY" theme has an illicit 42nd street sex romp feel to it...
Back when Times Square was just Big Ole' Porn-fest.
Can already see all the married men lining up outside of this one!
Well, it's the South Slope. You're all shady to begin with.
How many of these posters have actually been to the two existing (and very similar) massage place already in the South Slope. Theyre run by really nice women and while bare bones are actually quite good and totally affordable ($55 for an hour). Theres nothing illicit about the massage and the clientel everytime Ive gone in has generally been your typical PS folks.
Its one thing to have an opinion based on the facts, its quite another to not know what youre talking about.
Spoken like True (frequent) customer - JBOB.
Do you have the rewards card that gives you the 10th one free??
Rub-n-Tug!! ~ Me Rub you long-time!!
From the outside, it looks like a brothel in Cambodia.
I think that's what was meant by quasi shady.
Just Shoplin-
Thanks for the unneceesary racial language slurs. You dont have a clue what youre talking about. Apparently youre shady if youre not a $200 an hour and up spa
I have been to the place on 7th and 16th at least 25 times (I know because I have filled up two whole cards and had two free massages, and am well into my 3rd card). They are fantastic and affordable.
I love a true spa experience (aromatherapy, fancy robes, etc.) and will pay for that on occasion, but when I've pulled a muscle, am achy from too much traveling or just want to treat myself without breaking the bank, this is where I go.

1. No racial slurs here, just Good old-fashion American Broken English: “Wa-chu Tawkin ‘bout, JBOB?!”
2. I like my call girls a little classier than $55/hr. - Just sayin..
3. I never mentioned anything about being shady, but since you brought it up… It doesn’t help their cause and for anyone to think otherwise by having those dimly shaded windows.
I agree with HANS “From the outside, it looks like a brothel in Cambodia.”
@ Burg
Lighten will ya…? These comments stem soley from the point that this place looks like something other than what its advertising.
Man!! The married men are teaming up to save the honor of their little quasi-shady institution.
Gettin' all BUTT-HURT over a few comments on a Cheeky blog… Pls. stay off Facebook & Twitter because the comments I’m making are quite mild compared to the dangerous World of the Internets & Free Speech.
As my name implies, I am a woman. The "walls" are more like dividers and are very thin. If this was a rub-and-tug place, I can't imagine how I would not have heard some noises or seen ANYTHING shady in the past few years. The comments were probably intended to be funny (in a 12 year old way) but in reality you are slandering a business full of people that work really hard. Grow the fuck up.
Umm, some of these places are indeed “rub & tug” places. Some are fronts as well. The question that arises is how many of these places does Park Slope need? In the past 5 years more than 1/2 a dozen just popped out of nowhere. They are out pacing storefront psychics!
Here is a tale of one in Brooklyn Heights:
