Open for Business: Banhmigos, 178 Lincoln Place

A new Vietnamese sandwich shop called Banhmigos opened over the weekend in a tiny storefront on Lincoln Place just east of Seventh Avenue, right next to the new Leaf & Bean. Called Banhmigos, it's a charming little shop serving up a pleasing variety of Banh mi, salads, spring rolls, and bubble tea.

Located right across the street from the Berkeley Carroll School, it's in a prime spot to cater to kids on their lunch break. There are only a few seats, so it's clearly a "grab and go" kind of place.

The full menu can be found here, in my write-up from last week before they opened. One thing that stands out is the quality of the bread, which is baked by a local Brooklyn bakery but adheres to a proprietary recipe provided by the shop's owners.

And its name is great.

Banhmigos, 178 Lincoln Place Brooklyn NY 11217. 718-399-3812. Free Delivery.

The people who work here are delightful!

Best Bahn Mi and Bubble Tea in the Slope.....tried them all....Hanco's, Lotus, Henry's....this one is the best.

I think the secret is the bread!

Do they serve FRO-YO? Just wanna make sure I can get my fix after my Pork sando...

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJust Shlopin

Not sure I understand the humor of mentioning fro-yo in every single post, Just shlopin. I get that PS has its fair share, but this is like some kind of nervous tick of yours mentioning it constantly.

Liza: This is an ongoing running joke on this blog for a long time... You must be new here.

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJust Shlopin

Nope, not new.

I see your incessant fro-yo posts, but I guess I'm just missing the humor.

Ever care to make a comment about the actual thread? Seems a bit childish to just make weird comments about getting your organic fro-yo fix on every post.

Like a festering wound, scratching it only makes it last longer.

@Liza/Stella: Uh-oh... Someone's at the low-end of their cycle and decided to take it out on a blog.... It's a small snarky... Move on!!

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJust Shlopin

Rude beyond words.

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterliza

@ Liza - Move on!!

Yknow when Jbob urges a return to substance the world has ended as we know it but yeah I said it.

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJbob

@hans ...do you work for them?

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermatt

No, Matt.

I know in this day and age, saying something positive on the internet must mean you're affiliated with the establishment, but I assure you that is not the case. You can look at various posts I've made on this blog and I'm usually quite complimentary of places I think are worthwhile and above average.

Imagine that!

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterhans

@hans ..only when you post such a glowing review of the place when it has only been open for a day or so; and your only real comment is one that was also mentioned in the article.
it is a very suspicious post.

November 29, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermatt

1. I live within spitting distance.
2. They opened last Friday.
3. I don't work there.

November 29, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterhans

@hans ...you are very defensive on this subject; i do not believe that you do not work there.

November 29, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermatt

Hans, then why is there daikon coming out of your nose? Why are you covering the "Bahnmigos" logo on your shirt? Not fooling anyone.

I kid. I have no clue what the basis of anyone's opinion is.....other than stella, whose excuse is just fucking life, dude...

Home is my go-to place for Bahn Mi, but this is certainly closer to......home, so it will certainly get a shot from me. Best of luck.

November 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBrooklyn Brawler

Dale looks great in that cap.

I'll give them a shot...kind of tired of Home.

November 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterFelton

I agree with liza. Making incessant Fro-Yo comments is totally immature and totally not funny. Get a life, Just Schlopin. The only things worth commenting on in every post are burritos and dry cleaners who happen to have the word "hamper" in their name. Oh, and anal.

ate here last nite and thought the sandwiches were very good. had the traditional and shredded chicken and liked them both. i'll definitely check it out again.

December 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterpaul weiss

One of the best! The sandwiches here are better than Lotus Vietnamese on 5th Ave.

December 3, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterpark sloper

LOVE this place! sandwiches are definitely better than the other Bahn Mi places in Park Slope. Nice to have them here.

awesome grab and go! healthy, fresh, delicious, and economical! they have bubble tea and coffee and salads, everything you need for a bite if you're busy like i am, an always on the run kind of person. perfect for students and professionals! no other Bánh mì place in Park Slope can't beat their price nor their quality.

December 4, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGuang

I like this place and have already been there a couple of times, but it is definitely not the best in the slope (that would be hanco's, IMO).

It's close to where I live so I will continue to go. I wish them the best and hope they do very well. If they are reading this, my wish list is:
-- less salt on the sandwiches
-- more cilantro

Those two tweaks would make me very happy.

(Lotus, btw, is gross. I have twice seen workers use the bathroom and not wash their hands. The first time I let it slide, since I thought I might be mistaken. The second time it was 100% obvious AND then I was sick immediately after eating. As in, in the bathroom all night. They do not practice good hygiene. Ewww)

December 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSlope resident

I agree with Slope Resident. Too much salt and would prefer more cilantro, but can live without that little change. The place and staff are very nice.
