The One Detail Dale Talde Revealed About His Next Restaurant
Monday, February 13, 2025 at 2:00PM
The neighborhood is buzzing on the heels of the news, leaked last week, that the team behind instant classic Talde will be opening up a new restaurant in the space that was last occupied by Aunt Suzie's, which closed over New Year's after 25 years.
While dining at his restaurant last week, I had the chance to ask Chef Dale Talde (who'll run the restaurant along with Thistle Hill's David Masoni and John Bush) if he could provide any more details about their plans for the new spot. While he was unhappy with the fact that the news had leaked so soon, he was kind enough to provide me with one intriguing, albeit cryptic, phrase. After thinking for about 15 seconds, he left me with the following:
"It'll be mullet-friendly."
So there you have it, folks. Mullet-friendly. Think he's referring to something like this?
Or this?
I'm leaning towards the former. Or maybe it'll just be business up front, party in the back. By the way, the windows at the new space, on Fifth between Garfield and Carroll, have been covered over and construction is underway.

Anyone remember his "bodega" concept on Top Chef which, I think, turned into a pop-up restaurant for a bit? Upscale take on trashy food. Methinks it may just find a permanent home where Aunt Suzie's once stood.
It is really great news. That stretch within a block will now have Al di La, Terroir, Beauty Bar, Blue Ribbon, Fornino, Housing Works and this. Sounds more like Tribeca or Lower East Side or something than the 5th Avenue I used to know. A marked improvement, I might add!!
oh and Highdive! great bar
Mullet friendly?? wTF?
And, High Dive, my fave bar!
I think ParkPlace is onto something there.....
Oh, and it's been at least 24 hours since heresparkslope's last daily Talde update. Hmmm...
Why thank you, screenname neighbor...
