Temporary Signage Up at Burger Bistro

Burger Bistro, the latest entrant into the Park Slope Burger Parade, has officially announced its presence. As first reported last week, the restaurant, which has another location in Bay Ridge, should be open by next month in the space that was last occupied by Kiku, on Fifth between Lincoln and Berkeley.

Kiku only moved out a couple weeks ago, but judging by this photo of the interior if work continues at this pace they might actually be open on schedule. Apparently they're constructing a complete replica of the Bay Ridge original, best known for its hundreds of combinations and unorthodox burgers.

It's going to be about the quality of what's being served. Theme burgers can sometimes mean a subpar burger covered up by an array of toppings. Corner Burger does theme burgers, but the only unifying theme in the end is that they're all terrible. 67 and Bareburger do them more effectively. Time will tell.

It's going to be survival of the fittest with the burger oversaturation. Froyo flew the coop, but people still flock to Culture for a reason.

That there are too many burger places isn't the point. The point is that there aren't enough burrito places. Just imagine it: a Mission style burrito joint with huge burritos, a fresh salsa bar, and those wonderfully tasty pickled carrots and peppers. If done simply and correctly, it would be a goldmine. I'm happy to eat burgers, but come on people, can a brother get a burrito? Amen!
