The Park Slope Week in Review: 2/20/12 - 2/24/12
Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:28PM On Monday word got around that the long-empty storefront on the corner of Seventh Avenue and 14th Street will next be home to a store called "For Your Bathroom."
Tuesday brought official word that MIX, the reboot of Barrio that opened only last month, had already closed for good. The Parkside Diner, which was shut down by the DOH back in October but then never re-opened due to unpaid rent and taxes, will be re-opening soon under new ownership, after a renovation.
On Wednesday I noticed that the branch of MetLife Home Loans that opened in the "Drip" building on Seventh back in September had already closed. Mango/ Remixed Thai Brasserie also closed up, for the second time in as many years.
Some good news on Thursday: Cyprus Avenue, which closed for renovations a little over a month ago, will be re-opening soon. Christie's Jamaican Patties, which was in danger of being booted over a rent dispute, will be sticking around after all, and MIX will be re-opening with a new name (believe it or not); now it's called Casa Ventura.
Finally, Friday brought ners that El Sitio Borinquen, that strange restaurant that always seems closed, is on the market. And don't forget to check out the PSUMC Book Sale this weekend!
