Signage Up at Burger Bistro

It's been less than three weeks since the announcement that popular Bay Ridge burger joint The Burger Bistro will be opening up a second location in the space that was last occupied by Kiku, on Fifth Avenue between Lincoln and Berkeley, and signage is already up and it looks like it's getting close to opening.

The restaurant is the brainchild of two longtime friends, one of which attended the Culinary Institute of America. They'll offer a huge array of burger styles and toppings, along with bar food-style apps and sides, sandwiches, beer and wine.

With no lack of local burger options, though, it'll be interesting to see how this does. Their website confirms that they'll be opening by Mid-March.

That was fast.

I drove by Lucky Lou's this morning. He has a sign on the door that says they're opening this Wednesday. I didn't get a great look, but thought I saw some taps at the bar. Did he get a liquor license eventually? I thought it was voted down at last report.

With Burger Bistro actually having an existing following, I'd say the Slope Vegas odds are higher on it succeeding than Chez Bibi, Chez Babby, and the 30 other burger places coming before super-uber-oversaturation occurs.

Anyone do the free taste test @ Pure over the weekend?

Pure is open already??
I think Burger Bistro will do fine. I like the font, it's eye catching.
The place right next door to here (Caramello?) looks as though it's going to open any day now too.

Pure's not open, but they had a pretty elaborate taste test setup on Saturday with laptops and three variations on a citrus energy drink they had folks test out for free. Don't get your hopes up as to the drink, as it tasted like any other VitaminWater wannabe but, even with that, it was probably an effective way to create buzz. I now have a 10% coupon for when they open.

How are the burgers?

Enough with the burgers. Someone please sell me a huge Mission-style burrito and point me in the direction of the salsa bar. My (albeit paltry) kingdom for a great BBQ tofu burrito with a great salsa bar.

That font is hideous and should be banned from use in public spaces. God, my eyes hurt after seeing that.

And a huge second on the post re: the oversaturation of burger joints at the expense of casual Mexican. God, I'd love a good go-to burrito place.

@ erik....Get a grip re. font. It's a burger joint with great fare, plain & simple.
If you want a good Mexican place try venturing off to Bay Ridge. Los Pollitos on 3rd btwn 73rd & 72nd is worth your time.

Tofu burrito? Sounds interesting. With regards to burgers I think its convenient to have 20 burger joints within a 5 block radius. My grilled steak burrito with extra garlic sauce on the side please is still at los pollitos 2 on douglass st
