Skylark Bar Construction Underway in Timboo's Space

It's been a while since we last checked in with the under-construction Skylark Bar, from the owners of Court Street's Abilene Bar, in the space that was home to Timboo's since 1969, and had been a bar for much longer than that, on the corner of Fifth and 11th.
The windows have been papered over so it's tough to figure out what's going on inside, although owner Leah Allen ensured me that they'll be "incorporating as much of Timboo's charm where we can." There's been an interesting signage-related development, though: instead of completely removing Timboo's black-paneled sign, only the middle panels (which contained Timboo's name) have been removed. That sign was definitely a part of the old bar's charm, so it appears as if they're being true to their word.
No word yet on an opening date.

This will be a nice addition. Abilene is a great bar. I think there is another bar coming two doors down from here too.
A neighbor of mine went inside today & said the it looked good. He added that this was pretty irrelevant to him, as he hadn't touched a drink (or a joint) since 1981. I, for one, miss Timboo's.
Looks nice. They painted furniture is in but unfortunately its just going to be another yuppie bar to deal with. Timboos was home and real Brooklyn
No yuppies allowed,.... just the jobless with no money for drinks ,.... yeah right. ;) Take care of your bartenders. Mahalo & Aloha.
