"L Train Vintage" Coming to Blockbuster Space on Fifth
Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 1:14PM
Many thanks to a tipster for passing along the above photo, taken of signage just installed in the window of the space last occupied by Blockbuster Video, which closed almost exactly a year ago on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 15th Street.
Construction is underway at L Train Vintage, which appears to be part of a collection of five other vintage clothing stores, all along the L line in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. This one will be their first non-L location.
It's a very big space, but they'll certainly have plenty of competition in the neighborhood!

L Train Village has to be one of saddest names for a store ever, as somehow the corner of 5th and 15th will transport you to a converted sweatshop loft apartment where Fischerspooner is STILL playing somewhere off the Morgan Ave. stop before your 2 1/2 hour wait at Roberta's. Not.
Thats a little harsh, theyre keeping the name for consistency Im sure not to evoke some sort of hipster nostalgia.
Frankly its nice for a change to see a local store replacing a chain. How often does that happen, especially in large spaces on the avenues.
I like it. More vintage stores on 5th Avenue than anywhere in NYC.
I had a fling with a chick called L train in college. She got around. That said, Culture will still be way better than this place. Wait, am I in the wrong place? Dale?
This end of 5th is desperately in need of some hipsterfication. I'm happy.
Ah, the Irony.
I but vintage wherever I can find and I don't care about the silly name. yes.... that is a short walk for me from home and has a nice pay off!!!!
