A Look at Carlton Park's Menu, Opening Next Week

Carlton Park, which has been in the works for some time now on the corner of Flatbush, Park, and Carlton Avenues, is looking like it's just about ready to go. The exterior has gotten a very nice makeover (complete with garage-style doors that will essentially turn it into an al fresco restaurant during nice weather), and word is that they'll be opening at some point next week, most likely Thursday.
The restaurant, originally to be called M. Helen's, is playing up the "farm to table" theme, and the owner, Greg Yerman (also the brains behind Burrito Bar just up the avenue), was kind enough to post a menu by the restaurant's doorway. Here it is (click for a larger version):
It's a little, pricey, for sure, but not outrageous, and that burger sounds pretty good. The website states that they're a "farm-to-table restaurant with a sustainable philosophy and a friendly down to earth atmosphere. Handcrafted dishes are prepared from fresh seasonal fare, with local organic produce. Whenever possible, even cheese, coffee and wine come from neighborhood vendors."
And sure enough, there's also a children's menu:

I must be at the wrong web site, I was looking for "Here's Park Slope" :)
$15 for a bowl of quinoa??
looks boring
Those prices are outrageous and the menu is extremely mundane. I'm not surprised since Burrito Bar is total garbage. This menu looks appropriate for a restaurant in Times Square, trying to sucker in tourists. Guess this may become the "upscale" place for the arena crowd.
That children's menu tells me all I need to know about this place: boring, safe, uninventive.
When will people realize that a children's menu should NOT be grilled cheese, chicken fingers, and a mini burger? How about offering child-sized portions of the regular menu items? Disgusting.
Keeping it nice and simple, which is what I think this corner needed. They're not going to outdo James or The Vanderbilt, which are nearby and both excellent. Keep the drinks and food good, raise the game from what's being offered at Burrito Bar, and they'll do just fine on those summer nights. Hopefully this corner goes from a longtime zero to hero.
I also do agree with anon on children's menus, but it's what a hell of a lot of parents seem to want. I don't get it, but I'm not going to hold it against the restaurant just yet. At least there's sliders and a veggie plate.
