Happy Taco Shuttered by DOH

New Happy Taco, the dingy little Tex-Mex joint near the intersection of Park Place, Flatbush and Seventh Avenues, has been locked tight since being shuttered by the DOH last Tuesday.

The restaurant, which has the same owners as Ruby Chinese Food next door, racked up an unpleasant 82 violation points. This place was certainly nothing special (as is evidenced by Yelp reviews), but it was quick and cheap, if not much else.

It'll be interesting to see if this place can turn it around and open back up, or if this will be the sad end for Happy Taco. My guess is that it's back in business by the end of the week.

Click through for all the grimy details.

Truly shocking news... never could have seen this coming. Surely, this must be a joke.

There was about five minutes back in about '02 where I became obsessed with these Fresco Tortilla joints.

This place actually had a more wide open and visible kitchen than other places of its ilk. If these are the marks this place gets, can you imagine the others?

I's say this place is finished. Just walked by. The gate was half open and it looked to be in various stages of a gutting.

Good riddance.

It was time for a new cell phone store to open somewhere around here anyway.

Tacos everywhere just got a whole lot sadder — their beefy grins extinguished, their creamy laughter made sour, salsa tears streaming down their fragile shells. Yay Lord, while you have taken from us New Happy Taco, please oh merciful Lord deliver unto us Newer Even Happier Taco. For then will all your creatures, human and tacos alike, rejoice in our mutual Mexican/Chinese happiness.
