YogurBerry to Open Friday on Fifth

The new storefront's been built out, temporary signage is up, and YogurBerry (not Yogurt Berry, apparently), the new fro-yo joint that's been in the works on the corner of Fifth and Prospect (in the space last occupied by Juice Masters) will be opening for business on Friday, according to their sign.

This will be a self-serve yogurt shop, part of a growing chain that's in the process of opening up locations all over the world. You can check out their website here for a better idea of what to expect.

YogurBerry? is that really the name?

I think it is YogurtBerry The T and the B look combined with the vertical line topped by leaves and berries denoting a tree, bush or something. Either way - it won't last more than a year. Yogurt is just not that good.

If one reads the about section of their website, it's very clear that it's Yogurberry and not Yogurtberry. I give it 6-9 months, maybe less.

you know what should have gone in this space? a 'make-your-own' salad joint. it's surprisingly difficult to get a decent salad in the neighborhood, and I can't think of any place that really has a 'choose your own ingredient' salad bar.

seems like a no-brainer to me. feel free to steal my idea, but i want 15% of the profits.

The Bagel Market on 7th Ave near President has a make your own salad section.

May 14, 2025 | Unregistered Commenterdeanstreet

The place on the corner of 7th ave and 5th st. does too.

Those places are a little far to go for a salad for those of us who live on 5th Ave on the North end. There is no place along that stretch of 5th that I can think of.

The deli guys at 5th Ave Market will make you a salad if you ask, but it's not really the same and they don't have the topping/dressing selections, etc.

What about Luscious Food? Do they do salad bar? Or that new place that opened a few days ago, Pure?

May 14, 2025 | Unregistered Commenterdeanstreet

Luscious makes a couple pretty decent salads, but they are "menu salads", meaning that they have set salad combinations that you can order. I'm sure you can "make your own" with the ingredients they have if you asked.

Glad you mentioned Pure. I've gotten the Greek salad here twice since it opened, it is was very good. I'm very happy about this addition to the neighborhood. I've only had the salad so far, but all the food seems fresh and pretty healthy and good. But again, their salad are "menu salads".

I realize that I'm being totally picky, and its not so much that I can't find a salad in the area if I wanted, I just think one of those "make your own" salad places would do well here.

Oh I agree. There's a place called Chopp't I think over in Carroll Gardens and maybe in Manhattan. It has make your own salad and it's very good, although quite expensive. Most of those make your own salad places are total ripoffs, and Park Slopers tend to be frugal, so I'm just not sure about $12 salads, which is about how much one of those cost with only a handful of items. One can go to Union Market even and make a nice salad for 4 for $12. those who work from home would probably go to a place like Chopp't for lunch though.

Yeah, those places are all over Manhattan. Either stand alone salad places or delis that have a special chopped salad counter, and they seem to make a fortune. I guess the one potential issue with Park Slope is that there just aren't as many people who work in the area and are there at lunch time. I think in Manhattan, a lot of people leave the office, grab one of those salads, and take it back to their office for lunch.

Yeah Dave, where's FroYo? I don't feel comfortable talking about yogurt unless FroYo is telling me to suck my own dick.
