Open for Business: YogurBerry, 77 Fifth Avenue

The new FroYo joint that's been in the works on the corner of Fifth and Prospect opened on schedule on Friday, in the space last occupied by the short-lived Juice Masters. It's a sleek, bright space, with lots of self-serve yogurt options and over 30 varieties of toppings.
YogurBerry is part of a burgeoning franchise, opening up all across the world. While they're certainly late to the FroYo game (and don't really offer anything different from the competition), it's hard to see them failing in this space, especially with both summer and the opening of the arena right around the corner.
It's laid out in a self-serve fashion, with frozen yogurt (which sells for 49 cents/ounce) available in 14 flavors including peach, mango, pomegranate, coconut, blueberry, passion fruit, green tea, and green apple. The usual sprinkles and fresh fruit are available as toppings, with unique items like carob chips, mini caramel turtles, cookie dough, and cheesecake available as toppings. They're also serving up smoothies for $4.99.
All the FroYo on offer is all-natural and fat free. And for those who are wondering if a certain commenter is actually the owner, after visiting it's very clear that the answer to that question is no.
YogurBerry, 77 Fifth Avenue Brooklyn NY 11217.

How come Park Slope has five thousand generic (with the exception of Culture) yogurt places but not one good ice cream place? Is there not a niche market for high fat, super rich, premium ice cream in this neighborhood? Perhaps Caramello which serves gelato will fill this desperate need... We could still use a Blue Marble in the Slope.
@theodore Sky Ice is very good.
Haagan Daaz.
Not my thing, but it's an ice cream shop and it's always packed no matter when.
Wait, the mystery commenter is NOT really the owner?! NO WAY!
You're right, I enjoy Haagan Daaz but this neighborhood could still use one original ice cream shop.
Would love a Blue Marble here. Or, that truck with the really good ice cream, Ven Leewen? They have stores, don't they?
And, i think this place makes 3 fro yo places in the neighborhood (Culture, YoGo Monster, this place and PinkBerry soon to open? Not exactly 5 thousand. ;)
But, yeah, many more than the one lone ice cream shop, Haagen Daaz
So, if that nuttter who was posting here about this place is not the owner, what was/is his deal? he really turned me off from this store with all that posting
That should be 4 fro yo places, sorry
Isn't half of Park Slope lactose intolerant? 4 froyo's in one hood is enough. More than enough.
My dear Theodore,
Jesus commands you to cross Flatbush Ave. into Prospect Heights and into Ample Hills Creamery. It is all the ice cream you will ever need.
I got some ice cream at caramello yesterday during the fair. it was ridiculously good.
Caramello looks beautiful from the outside. Looking forward to trying it.
I tried Caramello. I will be morbidly obese within six months. I will definitely be going back soon and often. It was that good.
I also love Sky Ice. They have great, interesting, homemade, flavors. I love their food too. And they are super nice there.
Heeey deanstreet, aka the park slope homo I was waiting for you all weekend to come for the complementary yogurt I promised. Please it's not too late. Just come in and try my original and you'll see how much better it is than your culture crap. By the way, I'm still having massive diarrhea from that artificial culture shit.
The dunkin donuts on 9th and 5th also has a Baskin Robbins in it btw though what Id like to see is an old fashioned ice cream parlor-milkshakes, malteds, sundaes, banana splits- like a Brooklyn Farmacy but better.
What i want.....what i want.....what i want.....blah blah blah. Same shit, different thread. Hey, where's my Jewish deli?! Don't people always whine and cry for one about ten comments into a "What I want" thread on these boards? Where's Carnivore?
You want good ice cream? Walk to Ample Hills. Actually go inside Trois Pommes and notice they sell good ice cream. Try that new Caramello place. Hey, Uncle Louie G's still exists AND has old-fashiony shit for JBob! Hurrah! Oh what, those places aren't good enough for you? Then subtitle your threads "shit that only meets my standards" and act like Haagen Dazs is the only ice cream shop in the neighborhood.
Original Mick-bite me-with the massive duplication of places, burger places, fro yo places etc, its a perfectly acceptable and common to opine on what youd like to see in the neighborhood. Im personally tired of fro yo and for that matter ridiculous ice cream combinations, Id like to see a traditional ice cream parlor where you can sit comfotably. AMple Hills is overated and most other ice cream places are only good for a cone to go.
Americans are too fat. Like wildly fat and obese and disgusting!
Stop eating so much ice cream and froyo and go have a people's pop made with fruit once in a while. If you want good ice cream, go take a WALK for it and stop complaining that it's not right outside your front door. Lazy, greedy bunch of entitled Americans right here on this blog.
If you don't like Ample Hills, you are not a real ice cream fan. Simple fact.
Ample Hills is the best ice cream money can buy. But it's a 15 minute walk, ParkSloper. Do you think these fat slobs are able to make it up to Vanderbilt??
We need 6 more Ample Hills in Park Slope so that I never have to walk more than 1.5 blocks for ice cream. That is literally the mentality of the new residents of this city. It's sickening.
You dont even know what youre talking about-obesity rates in NYC are far far below the national average and have actually been improving among school age kids. This isnt Missippi, you can see that by just walking around.
And whether or not you like amplehills its not even in Park Slope.
Actually the percentage of people in Brooklyn overweight or obese is 58.6% as of 2012, the only borough with a higher rate is the Bronx at 62%. Manhattan is the lowest (and actually the lowest of any county in New York State) at 42%.
Know why? Cause THEY WALK! They exercise. They are willing to walk to an adjacent neighborhood to get things. Vanderbilt is not a far walk. It used to be that people would go all over Brooklyn for their food needs...cheese here, meat there. Now you want ICE CREAM (and everything else) on your block or it's considered too far. Never hear that kinda crap in Manhattan. People there are happy to walk 10 blocks, 20 blocks and more to go to dinner, to go shopping, etc.
57% of adults as obese or overweight is a MAJOR problem, even if it dipped a miniscule amount.
Got to try Ample Hill and Caramello. We love Blue Marble.
Luckily, I am not lactose intolerant ;)
I actually like the ice cream at Louie G's, lol
And those of us who do walk, bike, exercise are paying for those 58% of people in the form of billions of dollars of health related costs as well as subsidizing their lazy lifestyle which often includes cars.
Take a look at the people who oppose bike lanes. They are mostly fat and drive cars. And they want all of us normal weight people to pick up the tab for their obesity.
