Construction Underway, Temp Signage Up at Du Jour Bakery

News first broke back in March that a new bakery from two very well-respected pastry chefs would be coming to the space that was last occupied by Perch Cafe, which closed over New Years' on Fifth Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets. Construction in the space is now well underway, and last week some temp signage went up on the storefront's doors, officially introducing the bakery to the community.
The husband-and-wife duo of TJ and Vera Obias are the brains behind Du Jour Bakery, and a quick glance at the website's bio page should tell you all you need to get excited. Vera's worked at Dovetail, The Russian Tea Room, and Compass, and TJ opened Cafe Gray and Gordon Ramsay at the London, and they've also recently appeared on Food Network's Sweet Genius. Locally, they've been supplying the bread for Talde's Hawaiian Bread Buns.
When they open, we can look forward to not only bakery items like macarons, croissants, and almond bread pudding, but also a full brunch menu and, eventually, dinner service.
