98 Fifth Avenue Getting a Facelift

The facade of 98 Fifth Avenue (between Warren and Baltic), home to the Park Slope Christian Tabernacle, has been covered up with scaffolding and is in the early stages of getting a complete makeover.

The 1901 building, which was originally two townhouses similar to the other structures on the block, was completely renovated in 1966, with the addition of stucco to the ground floor facade and gray brick cladding to the upper floors. Looks like all that will be removed (not sure what it'll be replaced with), and the interior of the church will also be getting a thorough renovation. Would be nice to see the 60s-era uglification completely reversed (Now if only they'd do the same for the Times Tower!).
