A Sneak Peek at Cafe Dada's Menu, Opening Today on Seventh and Lincoln
Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:08AM The French-Hungarian cafe I first told you about back in December will finally be opening its doors to the neighborhood today, in the space that was last occupied by Ozzie's Coffee.
Cafe Dada is a collaboration between two friends, Murat Ozcan and Gabor Ferencz. They met while working front-of-house at Rockefeller Center's Brasserie Ruhlmann, and Murat is a gregarious presence at the other cafe he owns, Couleur Cafe, further down Seventh.
The interior of the space is gorgeous, and preservationists will be pleased to learn that all of the original woodwork from its time as a pharmacy has been retained, and in fact more was uncovered during renovations. Stay tuned for photos; in the meantime here's the menu (click to enlarge). As promised, there's a solid assortment of both French and Hungarian specialties, with an expended menu (including more entrees, wine, and beer) to come.

Lots of photos of the place on the park slope patch this morning....

A welcome addition to the neighborhood, a cafe with a very different concept than many of the others. The price point is a bit high, but if they deliver quality, the extra dollars may be worth it.
The coffee is cheap though. Cheaper than anywhere around and Blue Bottle is the best there is, in my opinion.
They are open til 10pm, btw.
Can we, as a society, stop using the term "price point?" Just say "The prices are high."
You are right. The prices are a bit high. Hopefully, the quality justifies the prices. Let us not judge until we've given the place a fair chance. Then we can comment on the price point.
Hmm, the hot chocolate is less than he sells it further down on 7th.
Hopefully he will adjust the price point down from $5 at Couleur ;-)
Tried to go this morning, but they weren't quite ready to open at the Patch-announced 7:00 AM time. Told us to come back around 9:30 or so. Place looks great, though.
You can stand right on 7th Avenue, point in any direction, and have a choice of Stumptown (a few blocks further down), Blue Bottle, La Colombe, and Counter Culture. What a lovely problem to have.
*shakes angry fist at cheeky commenters*
jumpattack... are you a native new yorker? cuz I am and people like you annoy me.
you need to stop being such a negative nancy. let people be who they are, if you dont like their wording or comments then dont read them! not one of your comments have been about the establishment these comments are meant for. and just incase you were thinking of it, don't bother commenting back i dont care enough to continue an argument with you. ive said my peace.
anyway.. i think this new cafe is great! it has a very comfortable neighborhood atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. the food is amazing, maybe slightly high in price but most definitely worth it and considering their use of organic and local products i dont see the price being too high.
