Checking In At The Scene of The Cat Clinic Gate Collapse

On Thursday the Seventh, the roll-down gate in front of the 5th Ave Cat Clinic, on the corner of Fifth and President, collapsed, injuring a 5 year old boy and his nanny. Both are ok now, thankfully, but both the clinic's owner and the landlord appear to be in some hot water: they're both passing the blame, and one of them will most likely be sued for a whole lot of money.

While the emergency work and police tape is long-gone, it'll probably be a while before all the damage is cleaned up; the gates have been completely removed, revealing some of the old facade underneath, and hopefully a new, more secure gate is on the way.

How do you know both are ok now, has there been reporting since the accident?

I hope that Bregman (cat clinic owner/vet) gets his ass sued - enough to shut him down. Not only are they terrible vets, but Bregman is an arrogant jackass.

I support local businesses whenever I can, but this is one place I will not be sorry to see shut down.

Glad to hear the nanny and boy are both doing well.

Why do we hope that the new gate is more secure? Why don't we hope that they don't put a gate up at all? We live in a pretty nice neighborhood and those pull-down gates do nothing but contribute to a sense of lawlessness and seige.

I know I leave my car unlocked every night in this nice, safe neighborhood. Oh, wait...

I really hope they get this right. Those were far from the only people with kids who like to look through their window at the kitties.

@JBOB Last I heard, the boy had a broken leg and the nanny needed some stitches, but both were released from the hospital within a day.

Cuban Slope - I lock my car and my house. I don't drape either in a metal gate.

I agree about this guy's reputation...not the best, nor friendliest vet in the neighborhood. Whoever is responsible for this sort of neglect deserves to be sued.

Thanks Dan-Its would have been so easy for the owners to show heartfelt soorwo for the victims without necessarily admitting guilt-instead they disappeared and started laying blame-theyre all douches

I blame the cats.

"contribute to a sense of lawlessness and seige"

Jesus Christ, next time be a little more melodramatic....
