Habit Finally Gets Signage in Big Red

137 Fifth Avenue, also known as Nine St. John's, finally got a retail tenant back in May after many months of sitting empty (the building itself has also been put up for sale). The women's clothing boutique that moved into the space went a while with no signage whatsoever, then pasted the name "Habit" to the glass windows on either side of the front door, and finally last week their official sign was installed, along with a small awning. Both look pretty classy.
Owner Laura Kleinman also owns the hippie-chic boutique 4 Play Brooklyn, up on Seventh, and she takes a slightly more upscale approach with this shop, which specializes in tops, sundresses, and accessories for just about any occasion.

I think that this shop looks TERRIBLE. My impression was that it was yet another "vintage" thrift store, due to the ugly stained glass lamps and other thrift-store fixtures in there - totally out of whack with the modern glass exterior. And then the racks seem STUFFED with clothes - not at all the ind of lovely shop that A. Cheng has going across 5th ave. I give this place 6 months.
You sound like you work for A. Cheng.
this building is atrocious, but the shop is great. really cute stuff at reasonable prices. whoever is doing the buying knows what they are doing. i love A.Cheng but if i only shopped there i'd be an overdre$$ed homeless person
This store is beautiful! The clothing is beautiful and REALLY well priced! Definitely deserves a drop in! My favorite store is Anthropologie and this place seems to have that caliber stuff at a great price point! Can't wait to go back!
