Work Underway at Oko Space on Fifth

Back in November, Oko, the Frozen Yogurt shop on Fifth between Degraw and Douglass, closed up after a couple years of flagging business. It then sat empty for some time before being rented in February by a few guys who planned on opening up a "burger bar" called Chez Bibis. That fell through, though (it never seemed to get past the planning stages, and, considering the proliferation of burgers in this neighborhood, that's probably a good thing), and then the space sat empty again.

Not any more, though: many thanks to a tipster for sending in the above photo, of construction beginning in the space. The telltale paper is covering the windows, and permits have been filed with the city. Stay tuned for more details.

The only information in the permit application is the name City Building NY, which I assume is the contractor performing the work.
