Open for Business: Premier Care, 418 Fifth Avenue
Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 2:13PM
The walk-in medical center that's been in the works in the space last occupied by Jennifer Convertibles, on Fifth between Seventh and Eighth Streets, opened on Monday. Manager Arafat Mansour showed me around the facility, which will be open seven days per week and will have at least one doctor in-house at all times.

There's a spacious waiting room, and patients are taken from there to one of nine exam rooms. There's a full digital x-ray room as well as a lab, so tests for strep throat, the flu, and mono can be handled in-house, as well as broken bones.
"This is a place for people who need immediate attention, but don't want to have to deal with the ER or wait to see their primary care physician," said Mansour. "We can treat everything from a cold to broken bones, cuts, and just about every other common illness or injury."

They accept just about every type of insurance, and will also treat the uninsured. Mansour estimates that the average wait time to see a doctor will be about 15 minutes. There are currently six other Premier Care locations, primarily in Long Island.

This is wonderful. I'm so glad to have a place like this in the neighborhood.
Agreed, especially for anyone with kids who would normally have to go to the ER on the weekends/evenings when pediatricians dont keep office hours.
Woo, I almost can't wait to get sick or for one of my kids to have an accident now, lol. This is very close to me, will go here instead of Methodist ER if it's a broken bone or something not deadly
In other words...let's break some bones people! Care is right around the corner!
I went here today, it's a nice place.
I sure could have used this sort of place last time my kidney stone decided to start moving.
Literally I dropped in and was taken well care of.
Thank you, PremierCare, for not only the help but being there when I needed it.
Right on.

It's a great idea but poorly delivered. Nice clean new equipment and furniture - mediocre medical staff training. Accessible and good hours - a store front space disguised as a professional medical clinic.
