Banh Mi and Bubble Tea Coming to Lincoln Place
Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 1:56PM
A Vietnamese sandwich shop will be opening in the empty storefront next to the new Leaf and Bean, at 178 Lincoln Place, just east of Seventh Avenue. Many thanks to a tipster for sending word that a lease has been signed, confirming a rumor that Leaf & Bean Owner Karen Hue told me last week.
The small storefront, last occupied by invitation shop Paper Love, will be home to the Slope's fifth banh mi shop, joining Hanco's and Henry's to the south and Lotus and Home down on Fifth. It'll be a welcome lunchtime addition to the area, and will certainly be appreciated by the kids at Berkeley Carroll right across the street.

Home's probably the best of the bunch as well, although the Sunburnt Calf has a mean remix on one.
I agree that Home is the best of the 4. There's none up in this area though, so it should be a good fit.
Yet another missed opportunity for more fro-yo! I am crestfallen, as should you all be. Unless...hold on a second...bubble fro yo. Bubble fucking fro yo! Pearly tapioca balls of extra fro'd yo. Imagine the possibilities!
I'm going to stick a giant wad of tapioca ball juice in your burrito.
Giant bean-flavored tapioca bubbles inside the burrito and refreshing sour-cream-fro-yo atop it. You listening Calexico?!?
I'm sorry, Home is the best Bahn mi in the neighborhood? I could be (probably am?) a doofus, but I've never heard anything about Home, and always assumed that the very delicious Hanco's was the reigning champion. Am I so very wrong?
Home was a spinoff of Henry's, which was a spinoff of Hanco's.
Nicky's is better than all of them, but Park Slope doesn't have a Nicky's yet.
Home ain't bad. Sometimes I feel like the bread could be fresher. It's right around the corner from me so it beats the walk to Hanco's.
A bad Vietnamese sandwich will beat anything from Subway
No. I'd rather have Subway than some of the really bad bahn mi I've had in NYC. Definitely.
"Spinoff" is a strong word - it was my understanding that Henry's was opened by ex-employees at Hanco's in direct ripoff/competition with their former employers. If Home did the same to Henry's in turn, that would be justice of a sort.
I don't think Home is anything special, though it's not bad. I used to get the half-sandwich there, which was perfect for me, but they stopped selling those to anyone who wasn't a student at the school across the street.
