Five Guys on Seventh Shuttered by DOH
Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:07AM
The Department of Health's hammer fell once again yesterday, on one of the neighborhood's most popular chain restaurants. Five Guys, on Seventh Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets, got the infamous yellow sticker after apparently failing a health inspection, and has been shut down.
While this will most likely be a temporary closure (chains seem to be better equipped than the little guys at getting their act together in these situations), this does appear to be the first failed inspection for Five Guys citywide. Every outpost of the chain currently has an "A" grading (there are 25 in the city), and this one's most recent inspection only earned it six points. The closure isn't reflected on the DOH's website yet for some reason, but maybe it takes a couple days to kick in.
Many thanks to a tipster for sending in the photo above.

for being overpriced?
Ever go in there? Place is filled with morbidly obese bottom feeders who look like they got lost on the way to OTB. Given the clientele and the quality of the "service," I'm not surprised to learn the place is filthy.
This particular location has the slowest service. Maybe the owners will clean the place up up in more than one way. But Lord Haw Haw, I never see "bottom feeders" and fat people there. I'm 5'6" and weigh 120 lbs and I go occasionally because it's close to the medical offices of NY Methodist so easy to grab lunch before or after a doc appt. I see mainly teenagers or moms or nannies with kids or hospital staff. None of them overweight. So I'm thinking you own a competing burger joint.
Hey Lord haw haw,
Kudos on using the same type of coded language as right wing race baiters.
Thanks, Jbob. Please be sure to regale the crowd at your next book club meeting with tales of how you zinged me.
I misread this as the Flatbush one for a second.
I've always thought this is going to be the next chain that "grew too fast" and is going to wind up massively downscaling in a few years. I remember having a burger at the Montague location a few years ago and thinking it wasn't bad, but thinking the north Slope one barely rose above Wendy's. If it was good as a smaller chain, it's nothing as a mega-chain.
That north Slope location has to be a disappointment for them. Never even looks 1/3 full despite being right off a busy subway station.
I ate here once and it was truly an awful experience.
I like fries.
Hey haw haw- you sound ignorant as a mothereffer.
Five Guys Burgers and Flies?
Y'll all sound dumb and ignorant! The fact that they was shut down for a flaw in the NYC DOH PERMIT DEPARTMENT, do y'll home work before ASSuming. The fact is y'll some IGNORANT FUcKs!
No matter what you say but it does tell managment negligence. Notice clearly says closed by DOH. It seems like you work for Five Guys and what happend at park place that was also closed by DOH in May? Check this

Ya , I will say place is so filty..... They are ruining the brand. Managers and employees smoke outside in Five Guys shirt. I heard it is because of the new management . It is not what it used to be. I feel so sorry for this place and owner . I did my research and found 2 weeks ago Montague street location was also shut down by DOH. I work by the hospital and I have known pretty much all their staff but now I don't see anyone . All I see employees with dumb faces and Fake smile. They will go dark very soon. They are not the perfect fit for Park slope/ Brooklyn.
Employees here are the worst. Rude, unilligable, and unprofessional. I'd go to 4 dozen different burger places before going back here. Clean yourselves up fools!
This place is really very dirty and overpriced.
I miss that little blond register girl who would squeak out 'TWO PATTIES' and call me 'Hon' when I'd order.
It's a dump. People who eat at these kinds of places are ignorant.
Jbob: Is that short for Rev. Wright?
I agree that the place has an unclean vibe. There are so many better burger places in the area so why bother.
EC1234: Is that short for David Duke?
I could be wrong but I believe that they had an A rating tonight. I'll retire to bedlam!!!
