Mezini Restaurant and Lounge Coming to 492 Fifth Avenue

The space that was home to Park Slope Restaurant from 1974 until its closure in 2010, on Fifth between 11th and 12th Streets, will next be occupied by a new eatery called Mezini Restaurant and Lounge, according to some temporary signage posted in the storefront's doorway.

The diner's owner also owned Green Kitchen a few doors down, and decided to merge the two restaurants and sell off this property. Details were slow to emerge about what would be going into the space, but a Green Kitchen manager told me back in January that it would be a French restaurant with a focus on small plates and cocktails.

It's hard to make any predictions about what's to come judging by the sign (which only promises "fine dining and elegant lounge" , but my guess is that it'll probably involve couches.
