Whats With the Horses on Fifth Avenue?

I spotted these horses while out for a stroll on Fifth Avenue last Sunday, and apparently these guys were doing the same. They definitely sparked plenty of curiosity from passersby. Anyone out there know what their deal is? Maybe something to do with the Kensington Stables? Is it even legal to take a horse for a joyride on a city street?

i saw them too and snapped some pix when they stopped to chat on the corner of union and 5th. they were all wearing vests that said "federation of black cowboys".

If they were from the Federation of Black Cowboys, they were in town for a rodeo. On Conduit Blvd., not far from JFK, there's a small stable and a picket fence that serves as a Black Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Stella's correct as to the Black Cowboys. Been out there on Conduit Blvd. for a very long time. Very nice people.

Looks like it's case closed! Thanks!

Why wouldn't it be legal? But, let's not make too big a deal of it. Next thing you know, people will be clamoring for horse lanes on PPW. Then, I won't be able to drive my car at all.

They once rode into a bar on Atlantic Avenue while I was there. It was pretty amazing. I like them.
