Terroir's Facade Revealed
Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:04AM
The plywood came down yesterday from the exterior of the under-construction Terroir, the wine bar/restaurant that's been in the works on the corner of Fifth Avenue and First Street, in the space last occupied by dive bar Great Lakes.
Many thanks to a couple tipsters for sending over photos, which show a simple black facade dominated by a large plate glass window and glass doors. The glimpse inside also reveals a bare brick wall, Edison bulbs, and a high wine rack. My guess is that the rest of the building will join in the color scheme and receive a black paint job, but there's always a chance that they can go for the rustic look and leave it as-is.

looks exactly like great lakes. i wonder why the front was covered for weeks?
It looks nothing like Great Lakes. The inside has been totally gutted and the entire facade is brand new. That window and wall are all new which is why they had plywood up. They still have to paint.
Great Lakes had a front wall that was one big window, and a door on the left. This place has a wooden wall that comes halfway up, and then a window the rest of the way, and then a door on the right.
But where, pray tell, is Marco's ponytail? I won't believe this place is authentic until I see the ponytail. Then, and only then, am I up for getting friggin sloshed here on great wine and tasty bites.
Marco's pony tail resides only on the island of Manhattan.
For Park Slope, he will be clean shaven and practicing yoga every morning on the roof of the space...he has developed a new position called meatball salutation.
Disgusting sweaty meatball rooftop yoga? Perfect. This place is already a hit.
