Crabs Coming to PSbklyn Space?
Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 10:27AM One of last year's biggest restaurant openings also ended up being one of its most spectacular failures: PSbklyn, which opened with much fanfare last February in a giant space on Union Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, ended up closing before the year was out after a very rocky run. The space has remained nearly untouched since then, but yesterday there was an interesting little tidbit of information about the next tenant in the New York Times.
According to a tipster who saw the short article (which I haven't been able to find online), the space has been rented to a new business called "Crab's Pot," and they'll serve a seafood-centric menu. No more details are immediately forthcoming, but I'm certainly intrigued!

That sounds like an item that would be in Florence Fabricant's weekly column on openings and closings. I haven't seen such a note though. Intriguing at the least.
I don't know about crabs, but I had a burger so bad and overpriced at PSBklyn that I think it gave me gonnorhea. Absolutely one of the biggest travesties I've ever seen in this neighborhood.
Bring back the original Bussaco burger and Kings County Manhattan. That place may have been uneven but, what they did right, they did magnificently.
If this is true, this could be great! Honestly, I'm tired of overpriced Fish Camp. I would love a place for affordable, fresh seafood, especially shellfish. That's something this neighborhood has been missing.
Janie, I couldn't agree more about Fish Camp. SO overpriced. We need another seafood place in our neighborhood.
The markup on coffee and biscuits is a lot more than it is on seafood. Seafood is expensive unless you can find a shack by the beach somewhere. Not sure why you'd assume this giant space with huge rent is going to have cheap seafood. Fish Camp is in line with seafood restaurants and the quality is excellent.
Anyone tried walking over to Littleneck instead of complaining about Fish Camp? I agree it's overpriced, but I also think there's other options. Hell, the Red Hook Lobster Pound parks a truck outside 7th ave every Saturday.
The Red Hook Lobster pound truck sells lobster rolls for $18. Out of a truck. That's ridiculous given how cheap lobster is this year. At Fairway in Red Hook they are $10 and just as good, if not better. But that's not nearby.
Littleneck is really great.
But do you want to know a SECRET spot that has some of the best seafood in Park Slope? Faros. Greek restaurant on 7th between Union and Berkeley. Get everything. The place is a sleeper hit and packed with Greek people. The fish there is so fresh and perfect!
For $16, you get a delicious lobster roll from that truck, and, it's a 1/4 lb. of lobster meat. I think it's a damned good deal!
Anyway, would LOVE a full on seafood/fish restaurant around here other than Fish Camp. While there are plenty of good places that serve good fish, I would welcome a seafood place.
BTW, where is Littleneck?
16 bucks for a lobster roll from a truck is a rip off this year.
there is a HUGE glut of lobster this year and it's actually cheaper than bologna. No joke. They are ripping you off, ParkSlopePerson.
$32 for a lobster roll at Fish Camp is an even bigger rip off. You're better off at Littleneck for a neighborhood option although I've never had such mud filled steamers than the ones I got at Littleneck.
Even the broth couldn't extract all the grit. I actually got a shell packed with mud and no clam inside whatsoever. I really want to love that place but I always leave hungry and disappointed. They had fabulous meatball slides last winter but those are now off the menu.
You will finish your Fish Camp $32 lobster roll in two bites and then spend the rest of the evening in shame for having been duped...
I had a nearly inedible meal at Littleneck- steamers so sandy I could only eat one and while Fish Camps lobster rolls are incredibly expensive, I still much prefer them to the Lobster Pound's truck. Note that the Pound's stand at the Flea serves a much better roll than the truck for some reason. Overall, when I need a lobster roll craving satisfied, I pony up the cash for a top notch Fish Camp roll. Would love to see another more reasonably priced and larger menu-ed place open up though.
The Lobster Pound is fantastic. There isn't a place in New York City serving that quality of lobster roll at that price. Fairway.....give me a break. Not even close in the amount of meat on those rolls.
Although I'll try anyone's lobster roll once, I'll probably only have a Lobster Pound lobster roll outside of New England, where they actually are priced correctly.
Putting mayo on a good lobster and then sticking it in a roll is a travesty...you all deserve to be ripped off.
Fresh Lobster needs nothing
I don't eat lobster out of a truck.
I think Okeanos on 7th Avenue has awesome seafood. I like Faros too, but Okeanos is really special.
Okeanos has televisions on at dinnertime.
That's not special, it's tacky.
I still find $16 to be a fine price, regardless of the price of lobster, it is still a 1/4 lb. of lobstter meat, and , you odn't hae to have it with mayo, they make a lobstter roll with just butter too I believe. You are not just laying for the price of lobester, like with any meal, you are paying for the prep work, etc.. If evveryone just paid what the actual food cost, then hamburgers wouldn't be $18, etc..
Anyway, if you don't like the truck, go to the pound. I have never had the lobster roll at Fairway, do they give you 1/4 lb. of lobster in theirs? And, at Fish Camp it's $32?? Wow, now that's nuts! Maybe Fish Camp is a restaurant, but I have been in there, it's not such a fancy place to charge so much money.
I guess since no one told me where Littleneck is, I will look them up
Littleneck is worth the walk. Check out their write-up on Serious Eats.
Okeanos doesn't have televisions anymore.
I understand this is about whats available in our neighborhood, but, if you want to venture further for a great lobster roll...try The Surf Bar in Williamsburg.
littleneck....went soon after they opened and was disappointed by ok food and lazy, bordering on rude, staff. Went again after a few months and was disappointed again, same staff and food was worse. Went a third time(sue me, I really wanted it to work as its convenient) and got ill, I mean really ill. No thanks, I give up. Fish camp may be a bit expensive but the food is good and the service is friendly. That said Ill give the new place a shot but you are fooling yourself if you think anything in that space will be inexpensive.
Littleneck sucks big time
