David's Tea Coming to Grecian Corner Space on Seventh

It's been well over three years since Grecian Corner, the diner on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Fourth Street, closed up shop, and it's sat largely undisturbed since (until recently the menu was even still on display in the front window). Well all that appears to be changing, as a plywood shed has been constructed around the facade, indicating that a major reconstruction is imminent.
A rep from David's Tea, the Montreal-based tea shop, confirmed that an outpost will be opening up in the space. There are currently two David's Tea Shops in the city, one in the Village and another on the Upper East Side (the chain has over 50 Canadian locations, but only three in the US; the other is in San Francisco).
The sleek shops are becoming renowned for the unique varieties of loose-leaf teas for sale, available in tins as well as fresh-brewed. They also sell just about every tea-related accessory imaginable, as well as gift packs and sampler collections.

Sure beats the Greasy Corner and its crooked owner. A welcome caffeinated addition to the neighborhood.
Really? A tea shop??? Umm, ok......................
David's tea is delightful. Been many times on visits throughout Canada. This is great news for 7th Avenue!
The David's Tea on the UES is great, I'm glad to see one will be opening in the neighborhood!
seems that 7th avenue is making quite the comeback...talde, pinkberry (love it or hate it) david's (very upscale), the salad place and that new cafe dada up on lincoln/7th is really nice too. saw some new nice looking toy store recently too. seems to me the retail scene in park slope just gets better and better as some of the really crappy stuff turns over and newer things move in.
I have to say I've been really disappointed with the "new" leaf n bean which moved to lincoln place off 7th Avenue. They are never open during their posted hours and the sign looks like it was made by an 8 year old. They don't stand a chance unless they make that place look less sad. The roll down grates are rusted, the outside is usually trash strewn and it generally does not have a "come on in, we're open" vibe.
sterling,
haven't you noticed that stretch of shabby buildings on Lincoln Place is where businesses go to die?, sans the Tibetan / New Age one on the corner
Thanks so much for highlighting our upcoming location! We're super excited to be opening up on Seventh and can't wait to meet you all.
That should work, especially for non-coffee drinkers. Add some nice sitting space and some accomodations for daytime workers and it shouldn't be difficult to find an instant hit here.
I will definitely be stopping by when it opens. We need to support these places to help avoid the Wireless stores, We Buy Gold stores and various banks.
I don't trust businesses that can't afford apostrophes.
