Scottish Whisky Bar Heading for Trade Winds Space on Fifth
Monday, September 24, 2012 at 1:34PM The corner of Fifth and Bergen, already home to a high concentration of bars, is about to get one more. According to DNAinfo, Duke of Montrose will be opening at some point during the winter, and will specialize in high-end single-malt whisky as well as a full food menu.
"We're really trying to bring something fairly sophisticated to the neighborhood with a Scottish flair to it," owner Steven Owen told the site. He also owns Caledonia, a well-liked Scottish pub on the Upper East Side. The space, which was last home to furniture store Trade Winds, will be built out to resemble a distillery.

If it's anything like Caledonia, this is a MAJOR winner!
I can't believe how many great new things are opening...Terroir, Pork Slope, Just Salad, David's Tea and now THIS?
My whiskey-soaked dreams have been answered!
Definitely a solid addition. There's going to be arena crowds there for sure, though.
hans seems to be our resident cheerleader. i'll have whatever he takes with his coffee in the morning (especially if it's whiskey-soaked).
I'm beginning to think New Yorkers drink too much.
