Checking In with Norman and Jules, The New Seventh Avenue Toy Store

Last month a note was posted inside the window of the space that was last occupied by The Park Florist, which closed in July after 40 years on Seventh between First and Garfield, indicating that a new toy store would be moving into the space.

Some temporary signage has gone up over the doorway, and a peek inside the under-construction store, which will be run by local couple Avi Kravitz and Courtney Ebner, and will have "a focus on handcrafted and imaginative toys, decor and art," reveals that things are really moving along. Looks like all they've gotta do is bring in some shelves and merchandise and they'll be ready to go.

Why do we need 3 toy stores within a two block radius? I wish something remotely cool or useful would open up in the store. At least its not more frozen yogurt.

Wasn't competition one of the economic policies that helped to build our country. I grew up in a neighborhood that had a number of delis, three bakeries, two movie theaters, at least three pizza places- (you get the idea) within a three to four block close knit community. Kudos to two young entrepreneurs who have the drive and willingness to start a new and exciting venture.
