The Rumor Mill: Are Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos Opening in the Fornino Space?

Brooklyn-born actress Debi Mazar and husband Gabriele Corcos, who recently moved to the area and co-host The Cooking Channel's Extra Virgin, are reportedly in "serious talks" with the landlord to move into the space last occupied by Fornino, according to The Daily Meal.

There have been plenty of rumors swirling around about the space's next potential tenant basically since the day it closed a couple months ago, with everything from Bay Ridge's The Family Store to something called Beef O'Brady's getting its moment in the sun. But with a couple reputable sources behind this tip, it seems like this is the most promising lead yet.

Florence-born Corcos' background is in music and while he's a very good cook, odds are that he won't be signing on as head chef. Something tells me that this space won't be too empty too long, and we'll know for certain who the actual next tenant will be soon enough.

Interesting development. Gabriele can certainly cook and seems to have a real passion for food.

Also, thanks for giving Beef O'Brady's its due, Dan.

Beef O'Brady's is an awesome name

It seems that restaurants in that space don't have a record of success there.

How can you say that when the place before Fornino's was there for so many years?

BTW, what is Beef O'Brady's??

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterParkSlopePerson

Beef O'Brady's is, hands down, the best restaurant name for a chain in the country.

The place before Fornino was Tempo and that was open about five years (2004-2009).

The place before Tempo was Cucina, which was open 14 years.

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAlf

I remember Cucina. It was very good. I hope someone makes a go of this space.

I still miss Tempo. Those duck pastilla rolls still rank as among the best dishes I've ever eaten. The problem was that, no matter how good the main courses were (and some of the main courses were VERY good indeed), everything was a letdown after those duck rolls.

Not that I want a chain in there, but given the size, and considering the neighborhood, a Buy Buy Baby or Giggle would clean up around here.

I was kind of hoping that Pork Slope would take it over so that we could have their cocky, self important, couldn't care less attitude on both sides of the street!

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMax

I enjoy Pork Slope. Never been treated anything but great there. Maybe your bad attitude gives off a bad vibe?

As much as I like parent shit, as a parent, I don't need that bone thrown at me. Let's leave the big box stores outside the area *stillwantababygap*

Tempo made a great Manhattan, I must say.

Any solid restaurant news is always good news.

Im excited. We need a new fresh upscale Italian place in PS. Places like Al di la and Convivium are tired.

Shake Shack would be pretty nice too.

I also wouldn't mind having something like a Chuko expand over to our side of Flatbush.

Beef O'Brady's would be cooler if it were actually "Beefer O'Brady's".

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterslopeadope

Let's not forget CUCINA basically started the whole fancy shmancy 5th Ave. restaurant thing. The only thing in the immediate area before them was Aunt Suzie's-- very welcome for sure, but not ringing the highest bell like Cucina did god bless'em.

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered Commenteroofa

Shake shack is already opening a Park slope location on Flatbush Avenue in the fall. It was reported a couple months ago.

Chuko isn't good. Not at all. Naruto Ramen is better and so is ZuZu. I wish Chuko was better, but ramen should not cost that much and the broth is terrible.

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersterling

@ Sterling - Two words for you regarding "CHUKO" Rent & Landlords.

Ramen IS NOT that expensive.... But they also have to pay for their overhead unless they want to start a new FOOD TRUCK phase on 5th Ave.

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJust Shlopin

The building that Chuko is in is for sale. 5.3 million.

CVS anybody?

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterReal Parksloper

It's already outfitted as a restaurant, plus that awful Rite Aid is right up the hill on 7th. That's where happiness goes to die.

April 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterFelton

Rite Aid and CVS "SUCK BALLS" pharmacy wise......

Duane Read not far behind with the usual long lines at the 7th Ave/Flatbush location.

And don't get me started about TARGET with their Sh*tty customer service with their painfully slow lines.
