“Modern Vietnamese Gastropub” Coming to Brooklyn Fish Camp Space
Monday, October 6, 2024 at 8:01AM
Brooklyn Fish Camp closed up shop after 10 years on Fifth between St. John's and Lincoln last month, and the 1,200-sqare foot space has already been rented. According to The Daily Meal, an as-yet-unnamed "modern Vietnamese gastropub" will be the next tenant.
Here's where it gets good: the duo behind the restaurant, Lien and Edward Lin, spent most of their careers with one of San Francisco's best modern Vietnamese — and Asian, in general — restaurants, The Slanted Door. Lien spent the past ten years there rising from line cook to executive sous chef, and Edward ran the kitchen at sister restaurant Out the Door and oversaw operations for the parent company, The Slanted Door Restaurant Group.
No more details are currently available, but by all accounts this seems pretty promising.

The slanted door is excellent and very successful in a city that has tons of Asian food choices. This would be great for PS.
FINALLY something interesting! This is going to be a good opening.
Super excited about this opening! Even though we have plenty of pho and banh mi places in PS (I'm looking at you Lotus and Wangers!), it would be nice to have a more widely focused Vietnamese joint.
The Slanted Door is one of the premier restaurants in SF. Its food is creative, fascinating, and fantastic. If this restaurant serves food that is half as decent as their SF brethren the neighborhood is in for a nice addition.
That being said, I always like taking advantage of Brooklyn Fish Camp's all-you-can-eat boiled shrimp/beer/fries deal on wednesdays. I'm sure my exploits on those days helped spell their demise unfortunately.
finally some,interesting news!
This may be just a launchpad to test the waters here being that the landlord was not open to giving more than a 5 year lease.
i miss fish camp.
