A Peek Inside Bricolage, Opening Soon in Brooklyn Fish Camp Space

About two months ago I first reported that a "modern Vietnamese gastropub" from veterans of one of the country's best Vietnamese restaurants would be opening at 162 Fifth Avenue (between St. Johns and Lincoln), in the space last home to Brooklyn Fish Camp. The restaurant has been given a name, and construction is moving along at a rapid clip.

A notice in the window revealed that Bricolage will be the name. The word means "a construction or creation from a diverse range of available things," which most likely reflects the philosophy. Not much in the way of details are currently available, but the duo behind the restaurant, Lien and Edward Lin, spent most of their careers with one of San Francisco's best modern Asian restaurants, The Slanted Door.

Construction was been moving at a brisk pace for the past several weeks, with workers inside the space on a near-daily basis. A look inside reveals that the layout appears to be similar to that of Fish Camp before it, with a narrow bar in front and dining room in the back. The color scheme is low-key, with lots of exposed brick and dark wood.

This restaurant's impending arrival has remained under the radar, but judging by the provenance of the chefs, I have a feeling that we're in for something good.

Now if we could just get someone affiliated with one of SFs great Burmese restaurants to open something in PS.

There's also something coming in the old Campo Di Fiori spot on the corner of 5th and Berkeley, seems that space rented quickly.

Also something coming into the space next that was an apparel store briefly.....forget the name, but it's a couple doors down from where the Pure Barre is coming (formerly Guvnor's). It's next to the fist shop..paper in the windows and construction inside.

Also Bhoomki Home opened next to Luke's Lobster, very nice store, she has an apparel store further up 5th.

Also, Prospect Gardens Pharmacy on 7th Avenue is closing and becoming "a national retail tenant"

Let's hope that green isn't the final color. That's a terrible color to look at while eating. Something soothing like white or blue would be far more appealing than a puke green.

I peeked into the campo di fiori spot, looks like it's not a restaurant, but a retail storefront. lots of shelving from what i saw.

Nomality, I think you're right. They've also replaced the facade with these huge glass panels.

I wonder if Cog and Pearl is moving across the street into the Campo di Fiori spot. Have really missed them for xmas shopping this year. Probably one of the best gift stores in Brooklyn.

It might be Cog and Pearl. I briefly heard a guy out front say something about "rebranding." So maybe same owners, different name...just a guess though.

the campo space will be "something else" which is now across the street. i was in there today and the girl at the front said they are opening there as soon as next week, will run both stores simultaneously where the one in the campo di fiori space will have some different items. they will then close the current location and run from the campo space and their cobble hill store.
