A Peek Inside the New Fifth Avenue Buttermilk Bakeshop, Opening Saturday

Buttermilk Bakeshop, the super-popular bakery on Seventh Avenue near Ninth Street, closed on Monday in order to transfer their kitchen equipment up to their soon-to-open second location, on Fifth Avenue between Garfield and Carroll, in the space last occupied by Trois Pommes Patisserie. The Seventh Avenue location will be closed until later this week.
The owner, pastry chef Katie Rosenhouse, posted a photo to Facebook yesterday (above) of the interior of the new location, which is slated to open on Saturday. It looks like the layout will be similar to Trois Pommes, with a display counter (and ice cream) up front. Classes will be held in the back area, and all the baking will also be done on-premises.

Really nice hardworking and talented people. SHows that not only is PS hospitable to mom and pops but first time business owners as well. If you have a good product and are smart and industrious please come and fill up our empty storefronts!
ANd I have to add-these guys have a really nice website and full social media blaring before their first store opened and they've been using it to trumpet their new store. Well done.
An out of town relative ordered a surprise cake from them for my birthday - she googled birthday cake park slope. The cake was delicious and I ended up ordering another birthday cake a few days later and it was even better.
I'm used to ordering cakes, etc. from One Girl Cookie in Boerum Hill, but now I'm excited to support Buttermilk. And they deliver too!
A great shop that should be listed on every "best of NYC bakery" list out there.
I acknowledge that they are delicious, but this is a cursed location. Didn't the previous bakery in this location close up under mysterious circumstances?
Trois Pommes was open for 5 years. Decent run, but their goods were not nearly as high quality as Buttermilk. Buttermilk has already proven themselves with their 1st location. This will be the 2nd.
And there is no such thing as a "cursed location."
Do you really think that sounds rational?
Trois Pommes didn't close under "mysterious circumstances" either. They simply went out of business after a large rent hike after their 5 year lease was up.
Tim -
You sound like you have all of the answers and "facts". Perhaps you are the landlord and slightly biased????
Oh yes, I'm the landlord advertising my large rent hike to kick out Trois Pommes.
You aren't very smart, are you, "SarkPlope?"
Pretty sure Trois pommes was open more like 6 years, hardly a passing flash in the pan business. Agree Buttermilk is higher quality, but Trois pommes had some nice things. Buttermilk has become super popular though, they sell out of many of their items at the 7th Avenue location.
And yes, from what the owner told me at Trois Pommes before they closed, the reason for the move was a rent increase to over 8k per month. Nothing very mysterious about that.
Has nothing to do with cursed anything. Such an ignorant thing to say. Cursed? What is this, the middle ages?
They were hoping to reopen in Sunset Park, but not sure if that's still something they are thinking about.
Cursed locations?
Mysterious circumstances?
What is this, a Scientology blog?
The place was open for a while, did some good business for a handful of years, and then the rent got jacked up and it closed. It happens ALL the time.
I thought Trois Pommes was quite good (amazing scones and empanadas in particular and awesome coffee) and the owner was great (and, no, I'm not her but I got to know her well and she was terrific.) As Tim said above, it was a ridiculous rent hike. Is Buttermilk closing the little 7th Ave location? I've never tried anything because whenever I walk by there on weekend mornings, it's still closed. I wish her luck, but at $8K a month rent, you'd better be buying and using truckloads of sugar and flour every month.
7th Ave is staying open, this is the 2nd location.
Buttermilk is definitely better than Trois Pommes and TP was definitely good.
