Closed for Business: Yogurtland, 207 Seventh Avenue

Yogurtland, the chain fro-yo shop that opened in December 2012 on the prime corner of Seventh Avenue and Third Street, has closed. Thanks to a tipster for sending the bottom photo, of the sign posted by management announcing that yesterday was their last day in business.
This intersection has changed quite a bit since Yogurtland, which replaced the long-running restaurant Sette, first opened. The unfortunate Cheeburger Cheeburger has closed and been replaced by the more upscale Burger Village; the middling pan-Latin restaurant Casa Ventura has closed and been replaced by Sushi Katsuei, which is arguably one of the best sushi spots in the borough; and Ocean Fish Market is being replaced by the much-lauded Blue Bottle Coffee.
If you're still in the still in the mood for frozen yogurt in the area, may I suggest you walk down the hill a couple blocks to Culture, which makes all their yogurt in-house and is among the best you'll ever try. Or if you're feeling lazy there's a Pinkberry two and a half blocks to the north, which may have had something to do with this closure.

So, anyone else find that the gift cards created at that location had no value when you tried to cash them in? The insistence on having a receipt in order to prove they had rung the gift card up wrong when the card is supposed to have been, you know, a GIFT, meant that some manager made a fast $25 off the company but lost both myself and the gift-giver as customers of the chain.
It is simple mathematics: rent per square footXsquare footage/12=Monthly rent.
#of cups of artisinal coffee (or servings of frozen yogurt or Nutella sandwiches) per monthXprofit per unit (probably around 90%, in the case of the above products)

A+C is almost always going to exceed B, these days by a lot.
I wonder what planet entrepreneurs come from when they borrow lots of money to establish a business and then sell an niche item or an item available at 20 other places within a few blocks and then realize they're losing a bundle.
Actually really shocked by this. I swear that every time I passed by this place or, heaven forbid, tried to go in, it was mobbed. If they didn't turn enough cash at this spot, noone will.
Thats such a nice space that was lost on this place. I hope something good comes in.
Walk by this every day and there is never anyone in there. Especially from October - April.
This prime corner should not be used for such an underwhelming establishment. With Sushi Katsuie, Blue Bottle and Burger Village on the other 3 corners, I have hope the next tenant will be a step up.
Heard a rumor about Beef O'Brady's looking into this spot. That would be a great fit.
Felton, you are funny.

Related question - why am I fat?
Fro-yo is a health sham.
By the way, at first I though Yogurt Land was the most lame of names, but actually, if your demo is young kids, it's as good as it gets.
Given our societal fat fear, there should be room somewhere in Central Park Slope (yes that's a thing!) for a kid-oriented Yogurt place, even if there are a few ice cream places.
Kid oriented yogurt place sounds like just the kind of failed niche idea that too often launches and fails in PS. Theres a reason that Uncle louis Gs becomes a soup place half the year. Its a largely seasonal business that even during the season generally only allows for a space half the size of wht this place had.
This is a big corner space with a nice outdoor court-it deserves the type of place with much larger year round appeal.
Jenna,
you are smarter than the average Heresparkslope reader.
by a lot.
Anybody know what is happening with the blue bottle coffee across the street? I thought they were planning to open in the spring but there's been no activity there.
They posted a couple weeks ago for jobs on craigslist at Blue Bottle's Park Slope location so something must be happening.
Good riddance. What an eyesore.
Here's hoping Pinkberry goes next. Snooty fro-yo makes me cringe.
I used to pop in now and again and get a dozen little taster cups, try all the flavors thrice, and leave all filled and with a brain freeze.
I loved Sette. I love Giovani's even more. I'd love to see Sette move back there but not at the price of Giovani's moving. Maybe they could have two?!
That really is an amazing corner and that outdoor space is great! When they closed sette I swore I'd go down and nab those outside benches that were left, and the potted plants. But I was too lazy and eventually they were thrown out.
I hope something good goes there. And you're right about Culture. Amazing creations.
And lastly, I thought we've all decided no kids or families live in Park Slope so why would we be shocked a kid-centric froyo parlor would fail over time.
I'm fat from that stuff too. And pizza.
It would be amazing if Ample Hills took over this spot.
Nice one. Are your sure for this article and i reach of them. http://resultkabaaya.com/
