Closing for Business: Gomez Hair Stylists, 78 Fifth Avenue

Long-time businesses are dropping like flies from the far north end of Fifth Avenue.

In June, the 41-year old David's Laundry closed between Bergen and St. Marks, and earlier this month Adelina Hair and Nail Salon two doors down shuttered, both cases of the landlord selling the building.

Now on the chopping block is the venerable Gomez Hair Stylists, between St. Marks and Warren. Last week an insulting "Available for Lease" sign sprouted up above the doorway, and a call to the number posted revealed that the agency is "in the process of pushing them out" and that they'll be vacating the space, obviously for a higher-rent tenant, within two months.

Calling all prospective bar owners!

I could see this one coming a mile away.

North Park Slope is going upscale in a major way.
