Closed for Business: Fifth Eye Optix, 172 Fifth Avenue
Thursday, January 26, 2025 at 1:45PM
Fifth Eye Optix, the hybrid eyeglass/secondhand store on Fifth Avenue near Degraw Street that had recently been sharing space with vintage shop Yona Lee, was seized by the city earlier today and has been completely cleared of merchandise.
Shortly after taking the above photo, I was reamed out for several minutes by the owner, who accused me of being part of a city-organized cabal that had been breaking her merchandise and plotting for five years to shut her down and throw her in prison. After taking out her (substantial) anger on me, and not believing that I am actually rather benevolent, she was uninterested in letting me report her side of the story.
I've been curious as to what the deal was with this place for some time, so if anyone can fill me in I would certainly love to know. Been a while since I've been full-on yelled at!

Good! Another crazy woman is put out of business because she was so INSANE that I don't know how she got up in the morning, much less ran a business!
Good riddance.
I cannot imagine why such a person would have a hard time running a business.

Yes, the blogger who takes pride in reporting on this neighborhood is a part of a city-wide government conspiracy. Glad I never went into her store now. I've met Dan and he certainly isn't some shady dude. Also, why does it seem that everyone is crazy these days?! She doesn't need to take out her personal issues on someone else.
We have way too many eye shoppes anyway. Bye crazy!!!
"Paranoia Paranoia everybody's comin to get me..."

I must admit to being a card-carrying member of the neighborhood cabal.
Yeah, I made the mistake of going into that store once and was treated to a bizarre and rambling story about her brother and a murder accusation and mysterious people out to get her... Very sad. I hope that she gets some mental health treatment now that her time has freed up.
I can't stand this place...glad it went out!
