Checking in on Sweet Wolf's

Construction is continuing apace at Sweet Wolf's, the restaurant coming to Sixth Avenue and 12th Street. Owner Tim Judge (the former GM of Toby's Public House) told me that they received hundreds of menu item submissions on their Facebook page since they put the call out a couple months ago, and they're all systems go for a mid-September opening.

"The brick oven has been built, and the bar is in place," Judge told me when I dropped by the other day. "It will be predominantly community seating, but there will be a few two-tops by the front windows and outside for couples."

They were also able to lock down a relationship with Forty Weight Coffee, which will allow the restaurant to finction as a coffee shop in the morning. There will be about ten seats at the bar, about 46 inside, and 25 outside.

Judge, along with co-owner Eric Wolf, are finalizing their menu of American classics (and yes, duck fat Belgian fries are still on it), with a focus on using the wood-fired oven as often as possible.

"This space was a restaurant back in the 1930s," Judge said. "We're looking to return it to its roots."
